Winged canvas

Hi folks!
I was lucky enough at the weekend to get to a workshop at AFTH to do a canvas with Michelle Webb.
We had a great time!!
We didnt managed to get the canvas finished in class as there was lots of layers involved in the background as well as to create the wings, but I made time this week to finish it!
So here is my version.
I added a few tweeks of my own,
Including the addition of some gold chair, and some treasure gold.
I love it.
I use to be very nervous about doing canvases but I have done a few now and find I am getting more comfortable with the process.
One of these days I will even try to design one on my own and see how it turns out!!
Have a great week!!!

Mixed Media Workshop

Hi Folks - Happy Easter!
I hope you are all making the most of the lovely weather!
Last month was a busy month crafting wise for me, as I was fortunate enough to attend quite a few workshops and did some amazing projects, so I'm going to try and take time over the next week to do blog posts about them.
Today's post is about the mixed media workshop which I attended, with several members of my family, in Middlesburgh.  The tutor for this class was Michelle Webb (an amazing lady and artist, so if you get a chance to attend one of her workshops I would advise you to go) to see more of her work and workshops check out her blog HERE

We made this wonderful canvas, using paper, paint, stencils, stamps and string.
We had an amazing time!
Sue is the amazing lady who organises the wonderful workshops at Wynyard, in Middlesburgh so if you are interested in attending any keep an eye on Art Workshops facebook page as that's where she lists them.  But you will have to be quick as they fill up as soon as she posts them.
Happy crafting!

April Calendar Journal Page

Hi folks - well spring has sprung..... well so they tell me!! But I'm cautiously optimistic!
Ok start or another month so here's the journal page.
I was very lucky last month to get the chance to go to some workshops with the wonderful Dina Wakley at AFTH.  I did the 2 days doing 'A face in the crowd' and I did a day doing 'creature feature'.
I have to say I had the most amazing time and came home buzzing and wanting to go straight into the craft room and do more.  I couldn't but today I got the chance and this is what came out.

As I'm sure you will have guessed - inspired by the faces workshop.  I had done a few faces before and they were OK but I wasnt happy with most of them.  This one I'm pleased with!
Ok gesso on the page then spread some Amsterdam paint on by hand (finger painting for adults - gotta luv it!!).  Did some stencilling next by rubbing some of the paint off with a baby wipe through a stencil. then Some Dylusions ink sprayed and dripped with the addition of some water, some mica spray and some acrylic inks and the background was done.
The ever faithful stabilo write all pencil helped me create the face with some highlights with a black portfolio crayon and a white pen.
The day swirls are stamped on with black and aqua archival ink, as is the date at the bottom.
I was tempted to try and put something in the white space at the bottom on the right but Dina's teaching managed to help me resist!! lol.
I loved doing my spring lady!
I hope you all find something or someone to help inspire you this month!!!
Take care!
