'Worry'

I was glancing through some of my first journals this morning and came across this page - its one of the first pages I ever did on my own!!  But I have to say the sentiment is very relevant at the moment, so I thought I would post it  as a reminder!

Its interesting looking back at old pages as you see how much you have moved on - I look at this now and see all the things that I would do differently! Reflection is always worth while - you always learn something!

Have a lovely day at Art From The Heart in Harrogate today and while I was there I picked up the new release of the Summer Seasonal Distress ink pads!!  So I had to have a quick play straight away!!! So just tried it out using Tim Holtz perfect splatter distress technique from Creative Chemistry 101!!!

I just love the bright colours - will have to play more - watch this space!

I Prefer Art!

Well finally last night I felt like I had a bit of spare energy so decided to do a page in one of my small journals.

The background was made using one of Tim Holtz techniques from his Creative Chemistry 101 online class, which you can still join and it is well worth your time and money - also its great fun.
The technique I used was perfect splatter distress from day nine and then I raided my box of cut out & stamped bits to make the figure.  The edging stamp was one of Dylusions as is the 'art' word.
Its only a small journal but I enjoyed getting messy - though I have to say doing this particular technique in a journal rather than on a tag was rather challenging as you are inclined to get ink all over the journal not just on the page you are working.  That being said I think it was worth the effort and I might even try it on an even bigger journal next!!!!!

'Thoughts to ponder book' - live in the moment!

Here is another page out of my 7 x 7 journal 'Thoughts to Ponder' - its the first page in the book and I thought the quote was a good place to start.

Background done with Dylusions paints and inks, the leaves are stamps from Lavinia stamps, the tag is from graphic 45 papers and the rest are from magazines and Dylusions old downloads.
I might get the rest of this book finished this year!!! OK maybe, maybe not!!! Lol
As always I don't like my writing but it has improved a bit since I did this page - but not much - I definitely need to do more practise!

June Calendar Page

Well another month has flown by and I was a bit slow in getting June's calendar page done.... but with a little bit of last minute flapping I managed to get it finished just in time to start filling it in last night.

I thought I would play around with a different lay out.  I using some shaped post it notes and lightly sprayed them with Dylusions ink sprays.  I then covered the page with the spring colours in Distress ink pads, rubbing the pads directly onto the page and then blending them with a blending tool.  They using Dylusions stencils I added a bit of pattern to the back ground, then  used a Crafters workshop template and distress ink pad blended over the stencil to create the border.  With the addition of some splattered mica sprays the background was done.  The baby dragon is a download from Deviant scrap by Janu (January Atkinson). The sun is a download from Itkupilli on etsy. I want to put a quote on it but I haven't found the right one yet so hopefully I will come across on during the month.  Have a great June!!!
PS thanks to Kate Crane for starting me on this monthly calendar challenge - I can't believe that I have kept it up for 5 months (every single day filled in) - thanks for all the help and inspiration Kate I'm having so much fun doing them xx
